SiriusXM host Megyn Kelly recently took aim at former White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, critiquing her frequent emphasis on being “black and gay.”
Jean-Pierre has often highlighted her status as the first black lesbian to serve in that role. Kelly remarked that Jean-Pierre suggested that her appointment should be a source of shame, tied to her race and sexual orientation. Kelly expressed her frustration, saying, “All she talks about in her interviews is being black and queer. I mean, how often can you mention it? Are there lesbians who still call themselves queer? It makes me wonder. Isn’t the term a bit broad? I get the LGB part, but it seems like there’s a division with the T and Q. I think she identifies as an L, so why not just say that?”
Kelly contended that Jean-Pierre’s focus on identity seems to stem from, well, that being her main achievement, implying it was the driving factor behind her becoming press secretary. “That’s all she seems to have. It’s the reason she got that position, just like with Kamala Harris and Ketanji Brown Jackson,” Kelly explained, adding that it’s somewhat degrading. If she were in Jean-Pierre’s shoes, Kelly noted she might want to tone it down. It seems Jean-Pierre values her identity since it’s a kind of leverage for her—people might feel compelled to cater to her because of it.
Jean-Pierre recently argued in a new book that President Biden isn’t experiencing cognitive decline and that he makes decisions independently, despite facing criticism from within her party. She claimed the book offers insights about Trump’s White House.
Kelly didn’t hold back, stating, “She’s so clueless. It’s like watching a child hide under a blanket, thinking no one can see them. It’s a bit amusing at that age, but we’re talking about an adult now who genuinely believes that’s the case!”
This discussion comes as Jean-Pierre left the Democratic Party amid claims of feelings of betrayal, especially after pressure mounted for Biden to withdraw from the 2024 campaign due to his struggles during a debate.
On a recent episode of “The View,” she expressed that the party had treated Biden in a very “disrespectful” and “demeaning” manner.
