Operation Midway Blitz experiences turmoil as residents reportedly confront Border Patrol.

On October 22, authorities detained three undocumented immigrants and six U.S. citizens in the Chicago region, with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) labeling it as “one of the most violent days” of Operation Midway.

According to DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin, during immigration enforcement actions in Cicero and Glendale Heights, individuals disrupted law enforcement efforts by crashing vehicles, fleeing, injuring personnel, causing various accidents, and physically attacking officers. Despite this chaos, CBP apprehended three undocumented individuals for immigration violations and arrested six Americans for obstructing officials and making threats against them.

McLaughlin also noted a troubling increase in attacks on police officers who are working to apprehend dangerous criminals.

The day’s incidents included multiple cases where U.S. citizens allegedly threatened or attacked immigration officials. One instance involved Isabel Mata, a citizen who allegedly threatened law enforcement after vowing to criticize Border Patrol Commander General Gregory Bovino. This case has been referred to the FBI.

In a separate incident, three Americans—Jacqueline Lopez, Eliana Bahena, and Jonathan Uribe—were said to have pursued a Border Patrol vehicle “to get attention,” even attempting to ram it. These individuals are now in custody.

Another report mentioned a member of the Latin Kings gang who was accused of targeting USBP while displaying an anti-ICE flag. The driver, Alexis Correa, followed officers for a considerable distance before trying to ram their vehicle, ultimately hitting another car. Correa has been arrested under U.S. Code 111 for assaulting and obstructing federal officers.

Additionally, DHS detained Alexander Torres, who allegedly recklessly obstructed government operations and ignored multiple commands from officers. He was ultimately forced into a government vehicle.

Correa and Torres both have criminal pasts, with Correa’s history including illegal firearm possession and DUI, while Torres has convictions related to firearms as a gang member.

In another episode that day, USBP confronted three undocumented immigrants from Mexico who reportedly defied verbal orders from officers. The driver, Jose Mauricio Rosas-Hernandez, allegedly reversed his vehicle into a government car and struck an agent while fleeing on foot. The trio was later apprehended by ICE.

McLaughlin emphasized that these disturbances wouldn’t deter law enforcement from their duties. “Our federal agents will continue upholding the law, and those who stand in their way will face severe consequences,” he stated.

Operation Midway Blitz commenced last month in memory of Katie Abraham, who was tragically killed by an illegal immigrant in a drunk-driving incident. The goal of this operation is to “target criminal illegal aliens who pose a threat to Americans in Illinois’ sanctuary cities.” Abraham and her friend were struck while stopped at a traffic light, resulting in her death at the scene and her friend’s passing the following day.
