Mysterious Man at Louvre Robbery Scene Sparks Social Media Buzz
A man captured in a photograph taken outside the Louvre Museum during the recent Crown Jewels theft has gone viral. Dressed in a three-piece suit, complete with a dark jacket and gold vest, accompanied by a fedora and what looked like an umbrella, he’s been compared on social media to iconic detectives like Inspector Clouzot from *The Pink Panther* and Hercule Poirot from Agatha Christie’s novels.
There’s a certain charm about him—many commenters speculated he could be the chief inspector on the case. Some even suggested his elegant style hinted at a possible connection to the robbery itself, making him seem more like a sophisticated criminal rather than an investigator.
Details on the Robbery
Recently, thieves managed to steal over $100 million in jewelry from the Louvre, using trucks to manipulate furniture lifts. As chaos unfolded, police set up barriers to restrict access to the museum. Amidst this, one user on X humorously remarked that the man looked like a character straight out of a 1940s detective film, possibly working to solve the theft of the French crown jewels.
However, the photographer, Thibault Camus, who took the image, has clarified that there’s no evidence to suggest the man was involved in the investigation—he simply happened to wander into the frame. Camus noted that the presence of this man added an intriguing touch to his photograph, a certain “je ne sais quoi.”
Speaking to the media, Camus recounted how the man appeared in front of him and left just as quickly as he had arrived. This prompted questions from the press regarding the man’s identity. But typical of French flair, the public prosecutor’s office responded playfully, expressing a preference to keep the mystery alive.
Meanwhile, the situation at the museum remains tense. Just last Sunday, four masked thieves executed a daring daytime robbery, making off with invaluable pieces from the collection. They escaped on scooters and have yet to be apprehended.
