A man dressed as a Nazi was taken into custody on Friday after allegedly hitting a woman in the face with a glass beer pitcher, resulting in a broken nose, outside a bar in Georgia.
Kenneth Leland Morgan attempted to enter Cutter’s Pub late Thursday evening, but was stopped by several angry patrons who wouldn’t let him in, as reported by Georgia media.
Footage from the scene captured a woman pushing Morgan away from the entrance while yelling, “Get out, get out, don’t wear those pants.”
Morgan, 33, was seen smiling as he placed his hands on the woman, while onlookers urged her to pull her hands back.
Eventually, the woman managed to push Morgan onto the sidewalk, where he was faced with a crowd that included individuals dressed in Halloween costumes.
Towards the end of the video, Morgan reportedly slammed the beer pitcher into the woman’s face, causing her to fall down in pain.
The injured woman, Grace Lang, ended up with a broken nose.
Lang recounted her experience: “I was at Cutter’s for about 20 minutes, had a beer, and sat outside with a friend when my Jewish friend spotted a man in a Nazi uniform with a red armband.” After witnessing Morgan arguing with two smaller women, she intervened and tried to remove his swastika armband.
As a photography and geology major at the University of Georgia, Lang mentioned that a scuffle between her and Morgan broke out over the armband, which ultimately led her to hit him with the beer pitcher.
“He was grinning from ear to ear the whole time he was assaulting me,” Lang stated.
Morgan faced arrest around 3 a.m. Friday on charges of aggravated assault, a misdemeanor, and was released on $1,500 bail, according to reports.
Patrick DePaolo, the owner of Cutter’s Pub, expressed relief over Morgan’s arrest and regretted that the incident escalated in the first place.
“He thought it was funny, but no one else did. I’m grateful everyone is okay. It’s unfortunate that this happened, but I hope we don’t see such things again,” DePaolo commented.
