Teacher Arrested for Indecent Liberties with Minor

A former teacher from Florida has been apprehended on charges related to child sex crimes occurring in another state.

The individual, Jordan Casey Hawk, aged 26, was taken into custody on Tuesday.

The incident in question reportedly happened earlier this year during Hawk’s tenure at a local school, involving a juvenile student.

According to reports from WPLG-TV, Hawk was sought by law enforcement in Kannapolis, North Carolina.

The arrest report indicates that an active warrant had been issued for him by the Kannapolis Police Department as of October 17th.

Records from Miami-Dade Orthodontics and Rehabilitation confirm that Hawk is in custody on a fugitive warrant, pending extradition.

The Kannapolis Police revealed that Hawk faces four counts of lewd acts against a minor.

North Carolina authorities mentioned that Hawk is anticipated to be extradited and will be processed by the Kannapolis Police Department.

WPLG further reported that during a court appearance, Hawk suggested he intends to waive the extradition proceedings to North Carolina.

Notably, Hawk seems to have lost his employment at an elementary school in Florida.

As reported by WPLG, he is recognized as a social studies teacher at Miami Lakes K-8 Center.

A spokesperson for the Miami-Dade County Public Schools acknowledged the situation, stating that they are aware of the arrest related to an incident that took place out of state.

The spokesperson also noted, “M-DCPS is cooperating with the involved authorities. The individual’s employment has been terminated and they are barred from future positions within the district.”

According to WTVJ, North Carolina authorities have a 30-day window to secure Hawk, or he will be released from jail in Miami.

The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office has not yet responded to inquiries regarding the matter.
