Heroic Rescue of Baby Trapped Under Car in Texas
A Texas police officer acted swiftly alongside a good Samaritan in a dramatic rescue of an infant trapped beneath a car that had flipped over. This incredible scene was caught on police body camera footage.
The incident unfolded around 9:30 a.m. on Thursday when Fort Worth police were called to a rollover crash on Interstate 30. Upon arrival, they found the driver ejected from the vehicle, but the baby was missing until the police began their search.
In the video, one officer is seen examining the wreck and makes the shocking discovery. “I need to move my car,” he states. “I think the baby is under here.”
Working collectively, the officers and bystanders attempt to free the child. “Keep moving, keep moving, keep moving,” one officer urges, as they all work together to lift the car off the baby.
Eventually, the small infant was pulled from beneath the wreckage, but she was unconscious and not breathing. “She doesn’t have a pulse,” one officer is heard saying, as they began chest compressions. After a tense moment, the baby finally starts to breathe and lets out a cry, a sound that brought relief to everyone present.
Once the officers had successfully revived her, paramedics arrived and swiftly took the baby to a waiting ambulance for transport to the hospital.
According to a press release from Fort Worth police, both the woman and infant are now in stable condition and expected to make a full recovery.
The officers involved, identified as Sgt. R. Nichols and Officer E. Bounds, received commendations for their bravery and prompt action during such a critical incident. The police department expressed pride in their life-saving efforts and also thanked the citizens of Fort Worth for stepping in to help during the emergency.
