Maine Senate Candidate Graham Platner's New Campaign Manager Stays Only a Few Days

Changes in Graham Platner’s Campaign Team

The campaign for Democratic Senate candidate Graham Platner is experiencing some rapid shifts as his campaign manager, Kevin Brown, is set to depart just days after starting. This information comes from a statement indicating his plans.

According to sources, Brown joined the campaign on October 21 and is now leaving, with reports confirming the news from multiple outlets. In his statement, Brown expressed, “Graham is a dear friend. I began this campaign on Tuesday and found out on Friday that we were expecting a baby. Graham deserves someone fully dedicated to his race, and we want to embrace this new experience as a family. So, it felt right to step back as soon as possible to ensure he gets the management he needs.”

Before Brown, Daniel Morav acted as Platner’s unofficial campaign manager. A conversation with Morav revealed that he never officially held that title. His predecessor, Genevieve McDonald, previously resigned from the campaign on October 17, citing Platner’s controversial posts on social media, which she claimed were contrary to her values and were not known to her when she joined.

The deleted posts included remarks that criticized certain demographics and labeled him as a “communist.” One highlighted post suggested that participating in wars led him to become more radicalized, expressing his disillusionment with America’s ideals. Platner later mentioned that he didn’t want his past comments to define who he is today, suggesting they were not reflective of his current self.

Additionally, it was reported that Platner has a tattoo resembling a Nazi symbol, which he acknowledged having acquired while serving in the military. He mentioned that he had covered it up, expressing regret over its resemblance.

Platner, who transitioned from being an oyster farmer to running for Senate, has claimed a working-class identity despite reports of attending a costly boarding school. Filings with the Federal Election Commission also show that his father has contributed around $60,000 to various Democratic initiatives.

Currently, Platner is lined up against Maine Governor Janet Mills in the Democratic primary, with support from independent Senator Bernie Sanders. The ultimate Democratic nominee will face incumbent Republican Senator Susan Collins in the upcoming 2026 midterm elections.
