Cam Skattebo hurt: Giants rookie undergoes surgery for dislocated ankle

Injury Halts Rookie Season for Giants’ Cam Skatebo

Cam Skatebo, a rookie running back for the New York Giants, suffered a dislocated ankle during the team’s recent match against the Philadelphia Eagles. This injury has unfortunately cut short what was shaping up to be an exciting start to his season.

After the incident, Skatebo underwent surgery in Philadelphia. Giants head coach Brian Daboll reported that the procedure went smoothly and that Skatebo is currently on the mend.

“We’re obviously going to miss him, but he’s on the path to recovery,” Daboll mentioned. There’s some hope that he might be able to head home from the hospital soon. Still, the coach cautioned that the road ahead would be a long one for Skatebo.

In the game, Skatebo made a notable impact with a touchdown reception from rookie quarterback Jackson Dart. However, during another play in the second quarter, he jumped for a pass and stumbled, resulting in the injury.

Skatebo was taken off the field in a medical cart, leaving his teammates shaken. Dart expressed his feelings, stating, “I’m devastated. This is my son, so it sucks to see him go down. That’s the worst part of this game.” The duo had developed a strong bond throughout the season, and their previous game against the Eagles had sparked hope for the Giants as they looked to gain some momentum going forward.

The Giants picked Skatebo in the fourth round of the draft from Arizona State University. This season, he has managed to rack up 410 rushing yards, five touchdowns, and recorded 24 receptions for 207 yards, adding two more touchdowns to his tally.

With the loss to the Eagles, the Giants find themselves at 2-6, battling both injuries and a tough season overall.
