House committee finds Biden's unauthorized autopen pardons 'invalid' in critical new report

Report Finds Biden’s Executive Actions Invalid

The House Oversight Committee published a lengthy report on Tuesday, indicating that executive actions and pardons signed with machine-generated signatures in Joe Biden’s name lack proper authorization and are thus invalid.

According to the report, “In the absence of evidence showing that President Biden actually took these actions, those executed with an autopen are considered invalid.”

The Republican-led committee has urged the Justice Department to investigate the validity of all executive actions from the Biden administration, hoping they can uncover whether legislative measures are needed to address any missteps related to pardons and actions made while using the autopen. The aim seems to be establishing real accountability in light of the report’s alarming implications that unelected officials may have effectively governed the country.

This scrutiny began in March when it was disclosed that Biden’s signatures on many significant executive orders, pardons, and documents were created by machines.

While previous presidents have used autopens, there are undercurrents suggesting doubts about the authenticity of numerous documents attributed to Biden. For instance, there are claims that his staff and family might be making decisions on his behalf. Biden, it seems, has allegedly expressed uncertainty about signing influential orders that bore autopen signatures; some appeared while he was away from office or even on vacation. Internal communications from the Justice Department reveal a tacit understanding within Biden’s team that many of the automations were legally questionable.

The Monitoring Project looked into about 1,597 official documents that bore Biden’s signature, encompassing pardons and executive orders. A report indicated that out of 958 documents, 846 were signed with an autopen.

Interestingly, Biden reportedly signed all but one bill by hand.

“As a nation, we have operated for years without a functioning president, allowing power to rest with unelected bureaucrats,” a watchdog group stated. “These findings are quite troubling, and it’s time for the administration and Congress to address who is responsible for this situation.”

The earlier revelations from the Monitoring Project opened doors for deeper investigations into the legitimacy of documents signed automatically during Biden’s term, initiated by pardon attorney Ed Martin from the Justice Department.

The committee’s recent report, resulting from a five-month investigation, demonstrates that Biden’s aides heavily relied on autopens to conduct official actions without concrete proof of the President’s approval.

Additionally, the committee requested the Justice Department to probe into three aides of Biden who had declined to testify: physician Kevin O’Connor, and aides Anthony Bernal and Annie Tomasini.

The Justice Department indicated that they have begun reviewing the reported use of the autopen for pardons during Biden’s administration.

James Comer, the committee chairman, pointed out that the report outlines how key personnel allegedly misled the public and took considerable steps to uphold an illusion of presidential authority as Biden’s decisiveness waned. Essentially, the actions carried out by Biden’s team and executed with an autopen are invalid, according to the report.

In response, Biden’s press secretary insisted that the investigation merely reinforces that Biden has made legitimate presidential decisions, stressing that alleged conspiracies or cover-ups do not exist.

Biden himself stated, “I made decisions during my presidency regarding pardons, executive orders, and other significant actions.”
