Hollywood Producer Convicted in Deaths of Two Women

A Hollywood producer was found guilty on Wednesday for the deaths of two women who were drugged and later left at a Los Angeles hospital. Notably, one of the victims, a police officer, had previously accused him of rape.

Lauren Craven, 25, from La Mesa, California, was one of seven women who alleged that David Pearce had raped them. This information emerged during court proceedings in 2021 when Pearce was sentenced to an extensive 146 years for the deaths of models Christy Giles, 24, and Hilda Marcela Cabrales-Arzola, 26.

Sadly, Craven herself was killed just last week when she was struck by a car while assisting another motorist whose vehicle had overturned on a highway.

Details on Craven’s Tragic Death

The Los Angeles County Prosecutor’s Office revealed details about Craven’s allegations during Pearce’s sentencing. Tragically, Craven’s death occurred just two weeks after she celebrated her 25th birthday. According to the La Mesa Police Department, she was returning to La Mesa from the San Diego Central Jail when the incident on Interstate 8 happened.

In a statement posted on Facebook, police described her final actions as showcasing her commitment to public service and the safety of others: “In a tragic incident, she was struck and killed by another driver after exiting her vehicle to assist.”

Pearce’s Criminal History

During the trial, Craven was only referenced as “Jane Doe #5.” Prosecutors included charges against Pearce not just for causing drug-induced deaths but also for the assaults on seven women from 2007 to 2021, who came forward after his arrest.

On the night of November 13, 2021, Giles and Cabrales-Arzola, along with two others, met Pearce at a warehouse party in East Los Angeles. They later went to his home, where he allegedly provided them with GHB and fentanyl, known as “date rape drugs.”

Hours later, surveillance footage showed masked men abandoning the women at two different hospitals, according to prosecutors.

Giles was found dead outside the Southern California Hospital in Culver City. Cabrales-Arzola, who was revived at Kaiser Permanente West Los Angeles Hospital, unfortunately passed away 11 days later.
