FBI investigation during Biden's presidency targeted over 160 Republicans: 'Essentially a list of Biden's opponents'

FBI’s Investigation of Trump Supporters Revealed

Recently uncovered documents have brought to light that the FBI, under the Biden administration, conducted a covert investigation into more than 160 Republican politicians and Trump supporters. This effort was linked to potential crimes related to the 2020 election and was part of what was termed the “Arctic Frost” investigation.

Senator Chuck Grassley from Iowa made this information public, sharing 197 subpoenas obtained during this FBI investigation. He expressed his views by labeling the findings as essentially a “list of enemies” for the Biden administration.

“Arctic Frost acted as a tool for partisan agents within the FBI and Justice Department to unlawfully scrutinize the entire Republican political sphere,” Grassley remarked during a press conference, calling it “clearly a fishing expedition.”

The documents associated with Arctic Frost later assisted then-Special Counsel Jack Smith in filing criminal charges against former President Donald Trump. This was based on allegations that Trump had attempted to overturn the election results of 2020. Individuals targeted included Dan Scavino, the president’s deputy chief of staff, as well as U.S. pardon attorney Ed Martin and trade adviser Peter Navarro.

Jim Jordan, the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, noted, “What we’ve seen is far broader and more extensive than we expected.” He expressed a desire to question Jack Smith during a deposition, asking if this was indeed a politically motivated initiative against Trump and how many other Congress members had been monitored.

This investigation didn’t just focus on the Trump administration; it also included inquiries into 111 Trump allies who weren’t in government. Key figures such as Trump adviser Steve Bannon, former NYC Mayor Rudy Giuliani, and Trump’s ex-lawyer John Eastman were among those scrutinized.

Moreover, over 90 conservative organizations, including Turning Point USA and the Republican National Committee, were part of the investigation’s scope.

These newly disclosed documents indicate a troubling pattern where many of Trump’s supporters were targeted without any criminal charges ever being filed. Republicans contend that this was less about upholding justice and more about using the investigation as a method to intimidate and silence those who question the 2020 election outcome.

They believe that this investigative effort has morphed from a discreet inquiry into a larger attack on the MAGA movement, suggesting that the former Justice Department effectively served the Democratic Party’s interests.

The endeavor started under the Biden administration’s FBI Director Chris Wray and was later handed over to Special Counsel Jack Smith in November 2022.

Senator Ted Cruz disclosed that the “Arctic Frost” probe secretly subpoenaed the phone records of at least eight Republican senators, including his own, capturing call logs and location data without their awareness.

A gag order was also placed by U.S. District Judge James Boasberg, which restricted AT&T from informing Cruz about the subpoena for at least a year. The judge claimed there were reasonable grounds for this secrecy, but Cruz decried it as a misuse of power, calling for the judge’s impeachment.

“We will hold accountable everyone who consented to this abuse of power,” Cruz declared emphatically.

Jack Smith’s attorney mentioned recently that Smith is open to testifying before Congress to provide insights regarding his role as special counsel and address any inquiries.

“Jack, like other special prosecutors handling presidential investigations, is ready to discuss his work and answer questions during his testimony,” stated attorney Lanny A. Breuer.
