Carys Zeta Douglas Channels Her Mother’s Fashion
Carys Zeta Douglas, the daughter of actress Catherine Zeta-Jones, recently stepped onto the red carpet in a striking look reminiscent of her mother’s style.
The 22-year-old model wore a black dress adorned with lace, a piece previously donned by Zeta-Jones two decades ago at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. It’s fascinating how fashion can loop back like that.
Carys attended the PAC NYC’s Icons of Culture Gala alongside her father, Michael Douglas. Although her mother couldn’t join them, Carys honored her by wearing the vintage dress. She mentioned that her mom was tied up with work, expressing her disappointment about Zeta-Jones’s absence.
Michael Douglas, 81, noted that while he missed Catherine, he was pleased to have Carys at his side, especially since he’s on the board at PAC. I guess sharing these moments must mean a lot to them.
Carys styled her vintage outfit with sharp black heels and ruby earrings, creating a chic look that felt both fresh and nostalgic. Michael complemented her appearance in a sleek black suit with a purple tie.
Previously, Zeta-Jones paired this dress with fringed stilettos and a clutch back in 2005, plus some diamond accessories—definitely a glamorous time for her, I’d say.
Interestingly, actress Keira Knightley had also worn the same dress the year before the release of King Arthur, which adds to its storied past.
This isn’t the first instance of Carys borrowing from her mother’s closet. On her 21st birthday, she celebrated in a pink floral Ungaro dress that Zeta-Jones wore to the MTV Movie Awards in 1999. That must have been a lovely nod to her mother’s style.
In discussing her affinity for vintage fashion, Carys expressed feeling fortunate to have an amazing closet to tap into. She’s not overly keen on fast fashion, opting instead for sustainable choices—an admirable stance, I think.
However, she did humorously admit to occasionally taking “a little too much” from her mother’s wardrobe. It seems there’s a playful tug-of-war over those stylish pieces!
During her time on the red carpet, Carys also offered insights about her post-college ambitions. Though she studied film and international relations instead of pursuing acting directly, she has a background in theater and hopes to stick with it moving forward.
Alongside Carys, Michael and Catherine Zeta-Jones are parents to Dylan, who is also a Brown University graduate. Their family journey includes moments of separation and reconciliation, having briefly split in 2013 before reuniting.
