Jesse James Decker on Competing in “Special Forces: The World’s Toughest Test”

Jesse James Decker shares that her “warrior” heritage gives her an advantage on “Special Forces: The World’s Toughest Test.” This season, she’ll compete alongside her husband, former NFL player Eric Decker. Both have military backgrounds in their families, which Jesse believes enhances their performance in military-style challenges.

“Before we had to turn in our phones, my brother sent me a heartfelt message about our fathers serving in the military. Both my dad and stepdad were in the Army and Air Force. He said something like, ‘they were warriors, it’s in your blood.’ Our great-grandfather also served,” she reflected.

Jesse emphasized that the resilience inherent in U.S. military culture is part of who she is. “This warrior spirit is in our bloodline. Every day, I think about what my brother said and strive to make my family proud. I’m genuinely proud to be a military brat,” she said.

She expressed some frustration, noting that many Americans overlook how fortunate they are. “When you see how Moroccan people live and witness our troops’ daily hardships, it sparks a sense of anger. I struggle to understand why people back home complain,” she admitted.

That realization, she said, lit a fire within her. “I don’t complain anymore. We have so much. Just look at the sacrifices these brave individuals make to keep our country safe. That motivates me,” Jesse shared.

She and Eric showcased their durability while competing on “Special Forces.” “We showed we still have that tenacity,” Eric remarked. Jesse added, “We’re lucky to enjoy our lives, but knowing that competitive spirit remains was reassuring.”

Recently, they discussed how participating in the show strengthened their marital bond. “Honestly, I think we had the best date night ever after filming. We had a layover in London, went out to dinner, and just enjoyed each other’s company. It was a beautiful night,” Jesse reminisced.

Having been together for about 15 years and married for just over 12, the couple is raising four children: Eric “Bubby,” 10, Forest, 7, and Denver, 1. They attribute their successful marriage to shared values and a commitment to their community. “We’re very invested in how we raise our kids. It’s what grounds us,” Eric said.

Jesse agreed, noting, “We generally have the same outlook on life.”

“Special Forces: The World’s Toughest Test” airs every Thursday at 9 PM ET on FOX.
