U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents are encountering an alarming rise in threats and violent incidents, as highlighted by recent data from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
In the fiscal year 2025, threats aimed at ICE personnel reportedly surged by an astonishing 8,000%. There are even bounties on individuals trying to resist the Trump administration’s strict policies on illegal immigration, Tricia McLaughlin, the DHS assistant secretary for public affairs, shared in a statement on Wednesday.
McLaughlin emphasized that ICE officers “risk their lives every day to eliminate the worst.”
“Our police officers face unprecedented levels of violence,” she continued, noting threats of murder, family intimidation, stalking, and the online dissemination of personal details.
A case cited by DHS involves Eduardo Aguilar, an undocumented immigrant from Dallas, Texas, who was arrested this month for allegedly supporting the murder of an ICE officer in a TikTok post. The post reportedly offered $10,000 for killing an ICE officer and sought “10 determined, fearless men in Dallas.”
In another troubling incident, the spouse of a Texas ICE officer received threatening phone calls from an anonymous individual who made disturbing comments, likening the family to Nazis.
The caller reportedly expressed, “I don’t understand how you let your husband work for ICE and sleep at night.” They went on to make vicious statements about the officer’s family, explicitly hoping for their deportation.
