Israel Receives Information on Body Transfers from Hamas
On Thursday, Israel reported that it obtained information from Hamas regarding the Red Cross’s arrival at a designated area in central Gaza. This location is set to see the transfer of “several coffins containing deceased hostages to a storage site.”
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) did not indicate how many coffins would be delivered. They reiterated their request to Hamas for all the remains of deceased hostages to be returned.
Hamas Returns Body of Hostage Recovered Nearly Two Years Ago
On Tuesday, FOX News learned that the coffins handed over to Israel were believed to hold the remains of hostages whose bodies had previously been taken back to Israel for burial. One of the identified individuals was Ofir Tsarfati, whose body was first recovered in 2023.
The Hostage and Missing Families Forum mentioned that portions of Mr. Tsarfati’s remains would be returned in March 2024, with Hamas releasing a photo of his body in August 2024.
“This is the third time they’ve had to reopen Ofir’s grave,” the Tsarfati family stated. “Although it’s said the chapter closed in December 2023, we’ve never truly found closure. Since then, we’ve been living with an open wound—between remembering him and longing for him, caught in a blend of mourning and mission.”
Hamas Plans to Hand Over Another Body as Deadline Approaches
