Rams consider making additional moves before the NFL trade deadline

Rams Open to More Roster Moves

The Rams might not be finished reshaping their roster. Just two days after trading for cornerback Roger McCreary from the Titans, head coach Sean McVay hinted at the potential for more changes before the upcoming NFL trade deadline.

“I can’t say no,” McVay stated, as seen on ProFootballTalk this Wednesday. He noted that while they haven’t had in-depth discussions about further acquisitions, opportunities exist to significantly enhance the team. “I’m really pleased with our current roster,” he added, “but despite some solid performances, I believe there’s still room for improvement across all areas.” It’s interesting he feels that way, especially after their recent successes.

The Rams currently sit at 5-2, coming off a bye week. Their next matchup is a home game against the struggling 1-7 Saints. However, it’ll become more challenging afterward with games lined up against the 49ers, Seahawks, and Buccaneers, which could test the team’s depth.

Interestingly, the Seahawks also hold a 5-2 record, sharing the top spot in the NFC West. Their schedule looks a bit easier, facing the Cardinals and Titans in the coming weeks.

Tennessee traded the 25-year-old McCreary, along with a conditional sixth-round pick in 2026, to the Rams. In exchange, the Rams sent a conditional fifth-round pick back to the Titans. McCreary, drafted in the second round by Auburn in 2022, is in the last year of his rookie deal.

Complicating matters, the Titans are expected to undergo substantial changes following the firing of head coach Brian Callahan, who had a rough start this season, losing five of his first six games. As for the trade deadline, it looms with a final cutoff on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
