Scarborough Challenges Moulton’s Claims About Trump and Epstein
On Friday’s “Morning Joe,” MSNBC host Joe Scarborough took aim at Representative Seth Moulton from Massachusetts for his allegations linking President Donald Trump to the late child sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein. Moulton claimed that the Democratic Party is working for “American workers,” contrasting it with Trump’s supposed allegiance to “the billionaire class.” This statement was followed by assertions about Epstein, which left Scarborough visibly surprised.
Moulton, currently campaigning for a Senate seat, argued, “Democrats are here to help American workers, Republicans are here to protect the billionaire class.” He continued, suggesting the White House helps criminals find their way to freedom under Trump’s guidance. However, Scarborough interrupted to clarify that there’s no evidence supporting Moulton’s claim that Trump exploited young women alongside Epstein.
“Well, there is no evidence that he, along with Jeffrey Epstein, took advantage of young women,” Scarborough asserted. To this, Moulton responded flippantly, “Yes, yes, yes. Common sense is ridiculous.” Scarborough fired back, insisting on the need for facts, pressing Moulton to provide documentation to support his accusations.
Moulton defended his position, suggesting that Speaker Mike Johnson is avoiding seating a newly elected Arizona Democrat, which might disrupt a tie vote on releasing Epstein-related files. However, Johnson contended that the lack of seating was due to the ongoing government shutdown, a situation that Senate Democrats have criticized for being prolonged.
Scarborough challenged Moulton again, emphasizing, “But you said he took advantage of young girls. No way. There’s no evidence of that at all.” Virginia Giuffre, a noted victim of Epstein, has not pressed charges against Trump and reportedly had positive memories of him, believing he might release Epstein’s files. Her ghostwriter noted that Giuffre considered Trump a supporter.
During discussions, Epstein’s victims expressed that they had not seen Trump involved in any wrongdoing. Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s former associate, also indicated in a previous interview that she had never witnessed any inappropriate interactions between Trump and Epstein.
As the conversation wrapped up, Scarborough reiterated a cautious stance: “I want to be clear: we have enough of talking about Donald Trump without making those assumptions.” He urged that if any documentation exists, it should be presented and examined publicly.
Bradley Edwards, a lawyer for several of Epstein’s victims, remarked in a past video that Trump had been cooperative during legal inquiries related to Epstein, offering valuable information without any indicators of involvement in wrongdoing.
