California Father Calls Children Heroes After Road Rage Stabbing
A father from California is declaring his two young children as heroes following their swift actions during a life-threatening road rage incident earlier this month.
Chris Davison, 38, is in recovery after suffering several stab wounds on October 17 in Ramona, California, as shared on a GoFundMe page set up by his family.
Davison’s wife recounted the shocking event on the fundraising platform, stating, “On October 17th, our lives changed forever. While Chris was taking our children to a pumpkin patch, an unprovoked violent act turned what should have been a family outing into a nightmare.”
Davison was on his way to a Halloween festival with his 6-year-old daughter and 8-year-old son when the incident unfolded. A black pickup truck reportedly followed him for several miles along an interstate in San Diego County, revving its engine and forcing him off the road on two occasions, according to police reports.
When Davison stopped to understand the situation, the other driver—identified as Noah Cain—also exited his vehicle and attacked Davison with a knife, as confirmed by the California Highway Patrol.
“Not a word was said, just a devilish look in this man’s eyes,” Davison mentioned in an interview.
The attack shocked Davison’s children, but they quickly sprang into action. His son attempted to staunch the bleeding using dinosaur stickers and subsequently used a phone charger cord to wrap around his father’s wound. Meanwhile, both children also utilized their sweaters to help. Davison noted that his 6-year-old daughter, while clad in a princess dress, was calling out for help from the car window.
“My son was desperately yelling, ‘Dad, please wake up. Please stay awake,'” Davison recounted.
A friend of the family, who had been following on a motorcycle, arrived shortly after, cleaned Davison’s phone, and called for emergency assistance.
Noah Cain was arrested shortly thereafter in connection to the incident. Davison’s injuries, fortunately, are not considered life-threatening.
While the motive behind the attack remains unclear, Davison’s wife believes her husband’s survival is “nothing short of a miracle.” She expressed gratitude that major organs were unharmed and described their current circumstances: “He is recovering at home surrounded by those who love him.”
Despite their relief at being alive, the family is now faced with a long healing journey. She noted, “Our children witnessed everything. We’ll have to navigate trauma treatment, medical follow-ups, and a loss of income while Chris recovers.”
The California Highway Patrol did not provide further comments on the case.
