The family of Virginia Giuffre has expressed their satisfaction after her royal title was taken away, following her claimed connection to Prince Andrew, a person with a controversial past, who is linked to the convicted financier Jeffrey Epstein.
Giuffre’s brother, Skye Roberts, spoke out, emphasizing that “an ordinary girl from an ordinary family defeated a prince.” He mentioned to BBC Newsnight, “We are so proud of her.”
Roberts reflected on his sister’s passing earlier this year, stating she often advocated for victims of Epstein. “Now, she’s celebrating from heaven, saying, ‘I did it,’” he shared.
“She would be so proud,” he continued. “He’s just Andrew.”
However, Roberts criticized what he believes is insufficient action against Andrew, now referred to as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. He called for an investigation, insisting the former prince “needs to go to jail.”
Additionally, Giuffre’s sister-in-law, Amanda Roberts, revealed that she was overwhelmed with emotion upon hearing the announcement. “Everything she fought for was not in vain,” she noted.
On Thursday, King Charles formally stripped Andrew of his title, stating he would be moving from his Royal Lodge in Windsor to private accommodations.
The royal statement indicated that these actions were necessary even though Andrew continues to deny the allegations against him. It added, “Their Majesty would like to express their deepest sympathies to victims and survivors of all forms of abuse.”
Representatives Ro Khanna and Thomas Massie praised the decision, both previously introducing a motion in September aimed at compelling the Justice Department to release all files related to Epstein.
This petition requires 218 signatures to proceed in the House of Representatives. Incoming Rep. Adelita Grijalva mentioned she would be a critical signer, although House Speaker Mike Johnson hasn’t yet sworn her in. Johnson has expressed opposition to the bill, aligning with President Trump—a figure often scrutinized for his connections to Epstein—who has called the effort “completely unnecessary.”
Roberts remarked, “The US government holds the key to the wider Jeffrey Epstein case. The UK is setting an example for what the US should do now.”
