Laura Loomer Critiques Heritage Foundation Over Controversial Support
Far-right activist Laura Loomer criticized the Heritage Foundation recently after President Kevin Roberts expressed support for interviews with Tucker Carlson and Nick Fuentes, a known white supremacist.
Loomer labeled Roberts a “hypocrite” for indirectly criticizing comments made by Carlson and Fuentes during an interview with Dana Loesch.
She expressed her outrage, noting, “Oh, this is outrageous. The head of Heritage was asked if it was ‘harmful’ to call out Christian Zionists. He said it was.” This was part of her reaction to clips from the interview shared on social media.
Continuing her critique, Loomer pointed out how Roberts reacted when Loesch brought up comments from Tucker Carlson. “When @DLoesch said ‘Tucker said this,’ @KevinRobertsTX froze like a deer in headlights. He’s a total hypocrite,” she declared, emphasizing the Republican Party’s responsibility in the matter.
In another post, she elaborated on her stance. “What @KevinRobertsTX needs to understand is that you can respect someone’s right to free speech, but you can also condemn evil acts rooted in a desire to destroy that person and the evangelical Republican base,” she wrote. Referring to Carlson, she added, “Tucker says he’s a demon and scratched me in my sleep. How about poison?”
Loomer’s comments followed pushback from Republican Senators Ted Cruz and Mitch McConnell regarding Fuentes’ anti-Semitic remarks. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer also denounced the interview as “deeply disturbing” and warned about its potential dangers.
Cruz stated, “This is a moment of choice. If you sit down with someone who says Adolf Hitler was so cool and that their mission is to defeat ‘global Jewry’ and say nothing, you are a coward and you are complicit in that evil,” during his speech at the Republican Jewish Federation Annual Summit in Las Vegas.
In light of the backlash, Roberts attempted to clarify his comments. He stated, “Yesterday, I said I abhor the views expressed by Nick Fuentes, and the best way to combat anti-Semitic ideas is to challenge them head on,” in a detailed post on social media, where he listed various accusations the Heritage Foundation has made regarding Fuentes.
He further added, “Nick Fuentes’ anti-Semitism is not complex, cynical, or misguided. It is clear, dangerous, and demands our united opposition as conservatives.”
Loomer argued that the criticism stemming from Carlson’s interview indicates a need for conservatives to distance themselves from the Republican Party and think tanks. “The legacy is over. There’s no way this will survive. The donors are over,” she remarked, mentioning that many donors had expressed their intention to leave the Republican Party.
“How sad that the Republican Party is in this position ahead of the midterm elections,” she concluded.
In recent months, Loomer has been leveraging her influence over former President Trump, impacting both policy and personnel decisions. Trump has frequently taken her advice to sever ties with individuals considered problematic within his administration.
This included instances in April when he dismissed staff members from both the National Security Agency and the National Security Council after Loomer cautioned that they could be detrimental to his administration.
