Singer Tish Hyman Advocates for Women’s Spaces Legislation

Singer Tish Hyman is urging lawmakers in all 50 states to promptly enact and enforce laws that secure women’s spaces, including prohibiting certain individuals from using women’s public restrooms.

In a recent social media video, Hyman expressed, “Black people are not part of this movement. This isn’t about our skin color. It’s not like we wake up and decide to be black. We just are.” She emphasized the importance of understanding her perspective.

Continuing, she stated, “Women need to take a stand. Everyone—women, men—you need to support me. If you know me, you know my focus is music. That’s my priority.” Hyman is clearly passionate about this issue, indicating that her dedication to her career won’t stop her from addressing what she sees as a pressing concern.

Hyman further mentioned, “I’m willing to fight because I feel deeply about this. I’m not intimidated. While I love my music, I can’t just sit back and watch this unfold.” She invited those who share her views to sign and promote a petition regarding the matter.

“Over 20 states, including Tennessee and Texas, have enacted bathroom bills. They even impose hefty fines for anyone entering women’s restrooms inappropriately. Los Angeles could benefit from similar laws,” she remarked.

The report accompanying her petition—titled “Protecting Women’s Spaces Nationwide: Privacy and Safety Laws in 50 States”—calls for clear policies that define and protect women’s spaces while ensuring that gender-neutral accommodations do not undermine women’s rights.

“The absence of consistent policies protecting women-only spaces jeopardizes the safety and dignity of women nationwide,” the petition states. “This isn’t just about privacy; it’s about ensuring trauma-informed care as well.”

Hyman’s petition asserts, “All women deserve to feel secure and respected in spaces meant for them,” highlighting that those rights are being gradually compromised due to insufficient protections.

The petition also points out, “The emotional safety and well-being of women across the nation are on the line.” Many women have faced past trauma, and breaches of privacy in settings like locker rooms or saunas can be particularly distressing.

“Women should never have to choose between their safety and their role in society,” the petition argues. “These designated areas serve a vital purpose, and it’s time we reaffirm that through legislation.”

Hyman encourages readers to support the petition “if you believe in women’s right to feel safe and respected in spaces made exclusively for them.”
