Trump warns of military action against 'Islamic Terrorists' killing Nigerian Christians.

Trump’s Strong Words on Nigeria’s Treatment of Christians

President Donald Trump has issued serious accusations against the Nigerian government, claiming it condones the genocide of Christians and has even suggested the possibility of withdrawing all aid or taking military action against Nigeria.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump urged the Nigerian government to confront “Islamic terrorists” who are perpetrating violence against Christians. He warned that if these killings continue, the U.S. might quickly withdraw its support and escalate military responses.

“If the Nigerian government continues to allow the killing of Christians, there is a good chance that the United States will immediately withdraw aid and assistance to Nigeria and go ‘shooting guns’ into this now disgraced country to wipe out once and for all the Islamic terrorists who are committing this horrific atrocity.”

“I hereby direct the War Department to prepare for possible action. If we attack, it will be as swift, vicious and sweet as terrorist thugs attack our precious Christians! Warning: Nigerian government had better act fast!”

With a population of around 220 million, Nigeria is the most populous country in Africa, characterized by a division between Muslims and Christians. Organizations like Open Doors and the International Human Rights Association highlight Nigeria as one of the most perilous environments for Christians globally.

Reports indicate that thousands of Christians have been killed, and many more have been displaced due to extremist violence, igniting international criticism against the Nigerian government’s inadequate protection measures.

Just a day prior, Trump had taken to Truth Social again, stressing that “Christianity faces an existential threat in Nigeria.”

“When Christians, or any such group, are massacred as is happening in Nigeria, something must be done! I am asking Congressman Riley Moore, along with Chairman Tom Cole and the House Appropriations Committee, to immediately investigate this matter and report back to me.”

“The United States cannot stand by and watch atrocities like this occur in Nigeria and many other countries. We are ready, willing, and able to save great Christians around the world!” Trump added.

In response, Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, insisted there is no genocide taking place in Nigeria. He expressed his respect for all victims and survivors of such crimes globally.

“For the avoidance of any doubt, and out of respect to all the victims and survivors around the world of this unique and horrific crime against humanity, please let the record show that there is and will never be genocide in Nigeria.”

Additionally, Kimiehi Imomotimi Ebienfa, a spokesperson for the Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, reiterated the country’s commitment to combat violent extremism and acknowledged the U.S. stance on religious freedom.

“The United States has made a statement on religious freedom. Nigeria has also noted this. We remain determined to tackle violent extremism fueled by special interests that have fueled corruption and division in countries at the intersection of West Africa and the Sahel region.”
