Shooting Incident in South Los Angeles
The son of a prominent leader of the LA Crips and a noted music mogul was fatally shot outside a smokehouse on Friday night.
Jabari “Baby Uie” Henry, son of Eugene Henry Jr., the former president of the Rollin’ 60s Neighborhood Crips, was reportedly at the intersection of 69th Avenue and Figueroa Street in South Los Angeles just before midnight when a shooter opened fire.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, Henry, 34, was walking towards a car when he was shot. The shooter has yet to be identified and remains at large.
Despite paramedics’ efforts to save him, Henry was pronounced dead at the scene, with his body later covered by a tarp, as captured in videos obtained by a media outlet.
He is also the older brother of Daiyan Henry, who plays linebacker for the Los Angeles Chargers.
Jabari’s older brother is currently facing serious charges for allegedly leading a criminal organization with ties to violent crime, human trafficking, robbery, and extortion in Los Angeles.
Eugene Henry Jr., known in the music world as “Big U,” was one of 18 alleged members of the Rollin’ 60s gang indicted in March in relation to a significant federal racketeering case.
The indictment specifies that Henry Jr. is accused of orchestrating a criminal enterprise that involved serious offenses, ranging from murder to fraud and the embezzlement of funds intended for his charity, “Big U Enterprises.”
Authorities emphasized that combating gangs and organized crime is crucial for public safety, noting that these charges could contribute to improved conditions in Los Angeles neighborhoods.
Henry Jr. was also charged in connection with the murder of aspiring musician Rayshawn Williams in January 2021. Williams, who had signed with Henry Jr.’s music label, was killed after releasing a negative song about him. Following the incident, Henry Jr. is reported to have disposed of Williams’ body in Las Vegas.
Another music figure, Termaine Ashley Williams, known as “Loose Cannon,” was mentioned in the indictment and is currently being held in a detention center in Los Angeles. He reportedly was the one who informed Henry Jr. about the shooting.
According to reports, those charged in connection with the case are feeling heartbroken over recent events, adding that the situation is especially hard given their own circumstances. There are beliefs that Henry might have known the person who carried out the attack.
As of now, the Los Angeles Police Department hasn’t confirmed specifics about the incident, including any potential gang connections.
