John Brennan's furious reaction to the 'Dirty 51' letter and Hunter Biden's laptop reveals his concerns.

Last week, it was somewhat amusing to see former CIA director John Brennan get visibly flustered while discussing various conspiracy theories about Donald Trump at an event in Virginia.

Brennan was part of an intelligence committee gathering at George Mason University’s Hayden Center, comfortably surrounded by colleagues who were, I suppose, eager to hear him speak.

However, his confident exterior began to crumble when Thomas Speciale, a whistleblower, took the floor during the Q&A session.

Speciale challenged Brennan on why he insisted on including the discredited Steele dossier in the 2017 intelligence report, despite pushback from CIA experts in Moscow regarding its credibility. This report was pivotal in starting the Russiagate narrative that painted Trump as a Russian asset.

“But is that not true?” Brennan inquired, trying to assure the audience he knew what he was doing.

Speciale, who has decades of experience in military intelligence, had compelling facts to back up his questions.

His claims were supported by recently declassified emails and documents that indicate the intelligence assessment was deliberately misleading, with contributions from Brennan, FBI Director James Comey, and Director of National Intelligence James Clapper.

Uncomfortable Moments

Before delving deeper into Speciale’s penetrating remarks, let’s paint the picture a bit more.

Brennan frequently accuses Trump of treason and is currently facing scrutiny from the Justice Department for allegedly misleading Congress.

He was on stage with two co-signers of the controversial “Dirty 51” letter, which falsely suggested that Hunter Biden’s laptop was part of a Russian disinformation campaign: Michael Hayden, a former NSA and CIA director, and Larry Pfeiffer, a former CIA analyst.

At 80, Hayden is an outspoken critic of Trump and has a history of attempting to undermine him during his presidency.

Interestingly, he once termed Trump “unqualified” for office and publicly joked about extreme actions regarding Trump and Edward Snowden.

One can only ponder why someone like Hayden is treated as an authority figure rather than being held accountable for past actions.

During the event, Hayden managed to make disparaging remarks about current DNI Tulsi Gabbard, prompting some laughter from the crowd.

The Discourse

In a rather ironic twist, Brennan himself expressed concern over the rising politicization of the intelligence community during his remarks.

The audience, seemingly enamored by the former officials, didn’t expect Speciale to throw them off balance with his incisive questioning.

“What’s your justification for backing a document you know to be false?” Speciale asked, catching Brennan increasingly off-guard.

Brennan lost his composure, snapping back, “I don’t know who you are or how you got here, but this is nonsense.”

“I’m here alone,” Speciale calmly replied.

While others attempted to rush the proceedings, shouting for the next speaker, Speciale held his ground, claiming, “The email is clear.”

In a follow-up event, Speciale continued to engage Brennan over drinks, asking why he backed the Dirty 51 letter. Brennan shot back, insisting they never termed it disinformation, rather calling it a Russian influence operation.

Brennan still seems to think the wording was a clever way to protect himself. However, the letter implied that the New York Post’s report on Hunter Biden’s laptop had “hallmarks” of Russian interference.

Questionable Operations

But the true operation in question may very well be the Dirty 51 letter itself, which was purportedly brewed up by then-Biden adviser Antony Blinken, with input from former acting CIA director Mike Morrell. The letter was presented in a way that it served as a talking point for Biden during the final debate against Trump.

Morrell then leaked this narrative to Politico, which pushed the widely circulated article claiming the Hunter Biden story was Russian disinformation.

Brennan appeared unconcerned with how Politico portrayed the situation, as he and the other signatories confidently appeared in interviews leading up to the election to reinforce the narrative.

Clearly, the goal behind the Dirty 51 letter was effective; it effectively stalled the laptop story until Biden secured the presidency.

Brennan clearly wielded considerable influence during his tenure and likely felt insulated from repercussions.

However, his defensive response to Speciale suggests that perhaps he is starting to feel the weight of accountability coming his way.
