Bengals’ Chase Brown Disappointed After Loss to Bears

Cincinnati Bengals running back Chase Brown expressed his frustration following the team’s recent defeat against the Chicago Bears, placing much of the blame on the defense for not making crucial stops in the game’s closing moments.

The Bears, led by quarterback Caleb Williams, sealed their victory with a powerful throw to tight end Colston Loveland, who managed to evade two defenders to score the winning touchdown, resulting in a score of 47-42.

After a tough battle where the Bengals had fought back from a 41-27 deficit, they briefly took the lead with a touchdown pass from Joe Flacco to Andrei Iosivas. The team had also successfully recovered an onside kick before losing momentum again.

Brown didn’t hold back when discussing the defense’s performance, stating, “Earlier in the season, they played really well and carried us on their backs.” He emphasized the need for the team to play better in those critical moments. “Put the ball in the end zone, go up one at the end and end the game. I mean, just end the game.”

Wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase shared similar sentiments as he walked to the locker room, clearly troubled by the game’s outcome.

Amidst the disappointment, Brown tried to maintain a positive outlook, though he acknowledged the frustrations of the moment. “I’m going to stay in my lane. I don’t want defensive players coming to me about what I’m doing,” he said, highlighting the importance of focusing on individual responsibilities.

Flacco also weighed in, stressing that it’s a team effort. “You have to focus on yourself and do your job. It’s easy to get emotional. We need to take pride in our work and not dwell on the negatives.”

Most of the defensive players chose to leave without speaking to the media, with linebacker Barrett Carter acknowledging the need for improved defensive plays, particularly in stopping runs.

If the Bengals can’t halt the momentum in games as crucial as this one, their path forward could become increasingly difficult. Flacco summed it up well: “We will resolve the issue internally. We must trust one another, and there will be no blame.”
