Prince Andrew's eviction from Royal Lodge prompts Sarah Ferguson to navigate independently: expert

Sarah Ferguson’s Future Plans Amid Royal Changes

While details about Sarah Ferguson’s upcoming living situation remain unclear, it’s reported that she intends to separate from her ex-husband, Prince Andrew. Recently, King Charles III initiated actions to remove Andrew of his royal titles and privileges, as well as to vacate the Royal Lodge.

Royal commentator Hilary Fordwich mentioned that Ferguson, now 66, is likely to “abandon him,” with plans to rent or buy a home in the Berkshires, a place she knows well. British broadcaster Helena Chard added that although there is some “uncertainty” about her future, Ferguson is determined to establish her independence.

Chard also noted, “Sarah has no intention of living with Andrew. Despite her loyalty as an ex-wife, she recognizes that maintaining a relationship with him isn’t beneficial.” A close associate of Ferguson previously stated that she’s preparing to move out and looks to live independently.

Ferguson and Andrew shared the Royal Lodge for roughly 17 years, with Andrew moving in first in 2003, followed by Ferguson five years later. The children from their union, Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice, will continue to hold their titles.

Some sources suggest Andrew may be relocating to the Sandringham estate in Norfolk. However, Fordwich expressed skepticism about Ferguson ever living there, emphasizing that she’s unfamiliar with the area and is unlikely to want to start over. Besides, the local community doesn’t seem eager to welcome Andrew.

Fordwich remarked that Ferguson has not requested any new property or funding, attributing her safety as her own responsibility. Despite having lived with Andrew, she previously claimed they were “the happiest divorced couple,” implying their relationship is more of friendship than reconciliation.

After marrying in 1986 and separating in 1992, they divorced in 1996. Although Andrew still has his daughters’ love and support, Chard asserted that the royal family cannot escape the shadow of scandal that surrounds them.

There’s a sense that if Ferguson maintains a low profile, public interest may wane, allowing her to live more freely. Currently, her dogs, Sandy and Muick—belonging to Queen Elizabeth II—are reportedly her steadfast companions.

With growing public pressure, King Charles III has initiated formal steps to strip Andrew of his royal status following an incident where he was confronted during a public visit, prompting further scrutiny of his past. Andrew’s lease at the Royal Lodge had previously offered him some protection, but this agreement has now been officially challenged.

As Ferguson navigates this new chapter, it’s unclear how the fallout from Andrew’s controversies might affect her daughters socially and emotionally. Chard pointed out that retaining their titles will offer them minimal solace amid familial turmoil, as they may face ostracism within their social circles.
