De Blasio promotes vote for Mamdani while wearing a 'Hot Girls for Zohran' shirt

Former NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio recently sported a “Hot Girls for Zoran” t-shirt while voting for the next mayor. He shared his enthusiasm on social media, describing it as “one of the happiest votes I’ve ever cast.” The post featured a picture of him in the shirt endorsing Democratic candidate Zoran Mamdani, celebrating what he called a “great day for New York.”

De Blasio, who was mayor from 2014 to 2021, backed Mamdani earlier in September through a statement published in the New York Daily News. He highlighted Mamdani’s proposals for significant changes, including a rent freeze, universal childcare for kids under five, and free public buses.

“Zoran Mamdani should be the next mayor not just because he has the right ideas, but because he truly understands the people who make this city work,” de Blasio noted.

De Blasio’s relationship with former Governor Andrew Cuomo, who is now running for mayor as an independent, has been strained for years. In June, de Blasio criticized Cuomo’s behavior, labeling him a bully obsessed with revenge and suggesting his perspective on the city feels outdated.

A recent Emerson College Poll indicated that 50% of New Yorkers favor Mamdani, while 25% support Cuomo, 21% back Republican Curtis Sliwa, and 4% remain undecided.

Cuomo has garnered endorsements from notable figures such as former Mayor Michael Bloomberg, current Mayor Eric Adams, and even President Trump, who urged New Yorkers to vote for Cuomo, implying it’s their best option. Trump stated, “You have to vote for him and hope he does a great job. He can do it, but Mamdani can’t!”

Mamdani responded with a touch of sarcasm to Cuomo’s support, joking in a social media post, “Congratulations, @AndrewCuomo. I know how hard you worked for this.” Meanwhile, Trump accused Mamdani of being a communist, going so far as to deride Jewish voters considering Mamdani as “stupid” in a recent post.
