Jack Smith Took Trump's Government-Issued Phone and Subpoenaed His Calls — 'A UNIQUE Action'

Subpoena Issued for Trump’s Phone Records in January 6 Investigation

Attorney General Pam Bondi disclosed on Tuesday that special counsel Jack Smith, assigned to investigate the January 6 events, has subpoenaed both President Donald Trump’s personal and government-issued phone records.

Bondi stated:

During the Arctic Frost investigation, it appears the special counsel took possession of President Trump’s government phone. This indicates that the Biden administration has handed over Trump’s calls to the special counsel, which is quite unprecedented. Moreover, all personal phone records of President Trump have also been subpoenaed. We should never allow such use of government power in America again. I have shared these new documents with my colleagues on Capitol Hill. I appreciate the FBI team for their efforts to bring this to light.

These comments from Bondi add to the ongoing discussions surrounding the January 6, 2021 protests, which are under the codename “Arctic Frost.” The investigation has already resulted in 197 subpoenas issued to 34 individuals and 163 entities, including various banks and political organizations.

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) mentioned that a total of eight senators and one representative have been subpoenaed in relation to Arctic Frost.

In a related move, lawmakers are seeking to impeach Judge James Boasberg, who sanctioned surveillance orders aimed at congressional members in connection with the investigation.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) referred to Arctic Frost as “Joe Biden’s Watergate,” criticizing Attorney General Merrick Garland and prosecutor Jack Smith as fundamentally corrupt. He asserted, “This is essentially a political hit list, with 197 subpoenas directed at 430 Republicans. This represents a blatant misuse of political authority.”

Cruz further called for the impeachment of Judge Boasberg, claiming he engaged in a partisan attack against a substantial portion of Republican senators.

Sen. Eric Schmidt (R-Missouri) echoed Cruz’s sentiments, stating that what Boasberg did warrants impeachment proceedings, emphasizing the need for accountability.
