ICE Continues Arrests of Criminal Aliens Amid Government Shutdown

Despite the federal government shutdown, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is actively arresting illegal immigrants who have been convicted of serious crimes.

In Virginia, federal agents have recently detained illegal aliens guilty of some of the most severe offenses, including child molestation and violent rape, in counties that limit local law enforcement’s collaboration with ICE.

Tricia McLaughlin from the Department of Homeland Security commented, “Last week, ICE focused on sex offenders, drug traffickers, rapists, abusers, and other violent offenders throughout the Commonwealth. These arrests underscore the issues stemming from open borders and sanctuary policies, which have enabled criminals from around the world to enter the U.S. and operate without restriction.”

ICE provided details on six recent arrests in Virginia, all involving individuals with criminal convictions.

On November 1, Adolfo Flores Ramirez, an illegal alien from El Salvador, was arrested in Loudoun County. His past offenses include drunk driving, domestic violence, and assault. He received a final order of removal in 2023.

On the same day, ICE took into custody Harvin Francisco Rivera Diaz, an illegal alien from Nicaragua, in Richmond. His record includes sexual assault and sexual abuse. He crossed the southern border illegally in 2022 and was released in the U.S. under the Biden administration, with a final order of dismissal in 2024.

On October 28, Shanovan Email Facey, an illegal alien from Jamaica, was arrested in Chesterfield County. His criminal history involves drug smuggling, possession of drugs, and weapons possession, with a final order of dismissal issued in 2013.

On October 31, Elvin Tiburcio Mirambeau, an illegal alien from the Dominican Republic, was apprehended in Suffolk. His criminal record includes making terrorist threats and drug possession.

On October 25, Weather Antonio Jacobo Morales, from Guatemala, was arrested in Richmond for rape, extortion, and violating court orders. He had previously been deported in 2016 but chose to return illegally to commit a felony.

On the same day, ICE arrested Daniel Sokpatzan, also an illegal alien from Guatemala, in Richmond. His history includes aggravated assault against a family member with a weapon among other assault charges. He illegally entered the country in 2013 and received a final order of removal that same year.

McLaughlin stated, “Under President Trump and Secretary Noem, America is closed to lawbreakers. We will continue using all available tools to make this country safe once again.”
