1 million Toyota, Lexus, and Subaru cars are being recalled: Here's the reason

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has announced a recall affecting over 1 million vehicles from Toyota, Lexus, and Subaru. This includes models from 2022 through 2026 that are fitted with the Panoramic View Monitor (PVM) system.

A software issue could potentially cause the rearview camera to freeze or go blank while reversing, which raises the crash risk and leads to non-compliance with federal safety standards.

In total, 1,024,407 vehicles are affected by this recall, all considered defective.

Dealers will provide updates for the parking assistance software at no cost in the future.

If you own any of the listed vehicles, you can expect a notification letter in December regarding the safety concerns. A follow-up letter will inform you when the solution is ready.
