Riots erupted in the Bronx early Thursday morning, leading to a stabbing involving a 14-year-old boy and the fatal shooting of a man and a woman, according to police reports. The stabbing incident occurred a few blocks from Yankee Stadium.
Investigators stated that the boy was stabbed in the right side of his abdomen during a confrontation near East 163rd Street and Grand Concourse around 9 a.m. Fortunately, he was transported to Harlem Hospital, and his condition is reported as stable.
The cause of the violent encounter remains unclear.
Hours later, the police released images of three young individuals believed to be connected to the attack, describing them as having baby faces and carrying backpacks.
In a related incident, a man and woman were shot and killed outside a building on Briggs Avenue near East Kingsbridge Road in Fordham Heights earlier that same morning. A 27-year-old woman suffered two gunshot wounds to her lower back, while a 42-year-old man was shot in the hand just after midnight.
Authorities are on the lookout for three men, suspected to be involved in these shootings. Two of them are thought to be the shooters; one was seen wearing a light gray hoodie and black sweatpants, while the other had a black hoodie and gray sweatpants. There’s also a report of another man dressed in all black being involved in the incident.
At the scene, police found a total of 13 shell casings. They have yet to determine whether the victims were targeted or if they were merely bystanders caught in the crossfire.
