Bank of America website and app back up? Social media buzzes as many US users report issues.

Social media has seen an influx of complaints following a nationwide outage that impacted Bank of America’s digital systems late Friday night, November 7. This disruption has left customers unable to access their accounts, with many reporting that their balances suddenly dropped to zero, which has understandably raised concerns and sparked discussions online.

While some users note that Bank of America’s app and website seem to be functioning, others are still grappling with balance errors and login difficulties.

What does the data show?

According to outage tracking site down detector, as of 6:45 a.m., there are more than 3,000 reports of issues. Both mobile apps and online banking have been affected by this disruption.

The site’s live data reveals that around 85% of complaints pertain to the mobile app, with 8% related to login problems and another 7% concerning online banking issues.

The outage has impacted major cities including Houston, Dallas, Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York, with the latter experiencing the highest volume of warnings. This may indicate that the problem is widespread across the country.

Bank of America has not yet provided an official comment on the situation, leaving users to rely on social media updates and any available information regarding the recovery process.

Social media reaction to the outage

One user posted on X (formerly Twitter): “You don’t even have to go to a Bank of America store to pick up cash. The system is down nationwide, and you can’t even access your money.”

Another user recounted their experience: “I just hung up after being on hold with Bank of America for 30 minutes. That was a waste of time—there’s nothing they can do.”

Taking a lighter approach, another user shared, “Bank of America is counting down your days. My mom called, furious that the money was gone, and I had to explain how server issues don’t impact the money linked to her name.”

Bank of America hasn’t publicly acknowledged the outage but did mention that some customers can still call for help and that ATM services are operating normally.

Reports indicate that Downdetector staff have communicated with a bank employee who assured them that the issue would be resolved soon. “They mentioned that Zelle is currently experiencing a system-wide outage affecting all banks, not just Bank of America, and it should be fixed within two hours,” noted the user.
