A leftist has been charged for obstructing U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations in Portland, Oregon, amid the Trump administration’s efforts to intensify its crackdown on illegal immigration.
On Thursday, while ICE was attempting to arrest an illegal alien linked to a foreign gang in North Portland, a woman was seen driving erratically.
Reportedly, she ran a red light, narrowly avoided colliding with a school bus, and pursued a federal officer, even trying to force the officer into her vehicle.
At the time of the incident, media members were present inside the ICE vehicle, capturing footage that showed ICE officers stopping her car.
When she climbed out of her window to approach the ICE agents, law enforcement informed her that she was obstructing a federal operation and that her actions were being recorded.
She responded by pleading, “Please don’t arrest me. Please warn me. I have children…I’m just a mother.”
According to a report from the chancellor, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) has launched an investigation into the woman. ICE Deputy Field Officer Julio Hernandez stated, “She put our officers at risk. She broke into our vehicles multiple times. We warned her multiple times to leave the area. This time, enough was enough.”
He noted that individuals like her are often considered “spotters,” alerting wrongdoers to the presence of ICE agents through car signals, whistles, and horns.
Earlier in the day, another woman was recorded making an obscene gesture at an agent while standing next to a vehicle, according to a report.
Breitbart News previously indicated that incidents of assaults against ICE officers have surged since January, particularly stemming from left-wing protests.
Officials from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) reported a staggering nearly 700 percent increase in assaults on ICE agents while attempting to apprehend illegal immigrants.
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) and several others have voiced support for those targeting ICE. This includes Mayor Michelle Wu of Boston, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, and California Governor Gavin Newsom, with Newsom drawing comparisons between ICE agents and Nazis. Recently, Jeffries explicitly cited ICE officers, saying, “…they will be identified one by one, no matter how long it takes.”
Despite these targeted attacks, ICE and various federal agents persist in their efforts to enforce U.S. immigration regulations and protect citizens across the nation.
