Sidney Sweeney’s Weight Loss Journey
Sidney Sweeney has disclosed that she shed over 30 pounds in just seven weeks after completing her film, “Christie.” The 28-year-old actress went through a significant physical change to portray the iconic boxer Christy Martin in the biographical sports drama. Following that, she quickly worked to lose the extra weight in preparation for her upcoming film “The Housemaid” and the third season of HBO’s “Euphoria.”
In a recent interview, Sweeney discussed her weight loss method. She indicated, “I had to be really hard on myself.” During her training, she faced challenges gaining weight, saying, “I was eating everything you can imagine,” along with consuming numerous protein shakes and creatine, which led to bloating.
The “White Lotus” star detailed how she gave up certain dietary habits to get in shape for her roles. “If you stop working out and start eating all those protein shakes, you’ll lose muscle quickly,” she remarked. Sweeney emphasized her strategy of adding weight first, which helped her lose it fairly quickly thereafter.
While preparing for “Christie,” she adhered to a “super clean” diet and engaged in considerable cardio workouts. She mentioned that this intense transformation might be a rare occurrence for her in the future, though she feels fortunate that her metabolism is quite efficient.
Sweeney reflected on the difficulty of losing weight so rapidly, sharing that she has always been active. “I was a very active kid, and my metabolism was always good,” she added. In September, she shared insights into her preparations for “Christie,” explaining that she worked closely with a boxing coach, weight trainer, and nutritionist, often training three times each day.
The actress also touched on her diet during this period, humorously stating, “There’s a lot of Chick-fil-A,” alongside her protein shakes. Despite the rigorous regimen, she expressed pride in embodying a powerful woman through her role: “I felt like I had become even stronger. I was really impressed.”
The film “Christie” tells the story of Christy Martin’s rise as a renowned female boxer, detailing her difficult marriage to boxing trainer Jim Martin, which was fraught with issues like codependency and violence. “Christie” is set to hit theaters on November 7, while “The Housemaid,” which features Amanda Seyfried, will be released on December 19. Season 3 of “Euphoria” is expected to premiere in spring 2026.
