Drew Brees Joins Fox Sports for NFL Commentary
Drew Brees, the future Hall of Fame quarterback, is set to make his debut on Fox this Sunday, stepping in for the Giants-Packers game at MetLife Stadium.
He’ll take over Booth 3 after Mark Sanchez was fired by Fox due to his recent arrest. Sanchez made headlines when he was involved in a fatal altercation with a 69-year-old truck driver at a hotel in Indianapolis on October 4.
Brees, who previously worked with NBC during the 2021 season, will partner with Adam Amin for play-by-play commentary, while Christina Pink will report from the sidelines.
Fox announced Brees’s hiring on Friday, marking his first game in Week 11. Before joining Fox, he contributed weekly to ESPN, particularly on “First Take” since September.
Brees has also appeared regularly on FS1’s “The Herd” and participated in Fox’s NFL pregame shows earlier this season.
Mark Sanchez, now 38, has yet to publicly comment on his dismissal. He has pleaded not guilty to several charges related to the incident, including a serious felony and various misdemeanors.
Prior to the incident, Sanchez was in Indianapolis for the Week 5 matchup between the Colts and Raiders.
A pretrial hearing took place in December, with a jury trial currently scheduled for December 11. Court documents indicate Sanchez can appear remotely.
In a recent statement, Sanchez expressed, “Right now I’m focused on recovery.” He mentioned feeling grateful to a surgeon who helped him after the event.
Brees, with an impressive career that includes 13 Pro Bowl selections, retired from the NFL in 2021. He stands as the second all-time leader in passing yards and touchdowns, and he is already a candidate for the Pro Football Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility.
