Glen Powell receives action film tips from Schwarzenegger for 'The Running Man'

Glen Powell Receives Action Hero Advice from Arnold Schwarzenegger

Recently, Glen Powell shared insights about taking advice from Arnold Schwarzenegger, which has influenced his transition into the realm of action heroes. In a conversation after a press event for his upcoming project, “Running Man,” Powell recounted how Schwarzenegger expressed excitement after seeing the film, stating that he truly loved it.

Powell quoted Schwarzenegger, who noted something that many action stars experience: “They don’t realize what it means to be in the midst of an action film until they’re actually in it.” This particular movie revolves around a protagonist being chased, which, according to Powell, adds an intense element to the story. He emphasized the depth of the film, saying, “It’s a very physical, very emotional experience.”

Interestingly, during filming, Powell had a minor wardrobe malfunction while performing a stunt, which added a humorous twist to the experience on set.

Schwarzenegger originally starred in the 1987 version of “The Running Man,” based on Stephen King’s dystopian narrative. Now, at 78, he has reportedly given Powell his full support for this remake, which aims to stay true to the source material.

Powell mentioned how he connected with Schwarzenegger through Patrick, Arnold’s son, whom he considers a close friend. Their conversations included advice from other action legends, including Sylvester Stallone. Powell recounted Stallone’s blunt reminder that, “At the end of every day, you win or you lose.” This straightforward perspective stayed with him.

Additionally, Powell reflected on his intriguing experiences while filming “Top Gun: Maverick,” where he had to rappel from a significant height in challenging conditions. He humorously noted there was someone assigned to prevent him from unintended mishaps during that stunt.

Tom Cruise, another actor he worked with, has also provided valuable guidance. Powell described a memorable two-and-a-half-hour phone call where Cruise shared strategies to ensure actor safety during stunts. One notable takeaway was that Powell should film himself running, as he learned it’s not quite as impressive as he may have thought.

“Running Man,” set to release on Friday, boasts a cast including Colman Domingo, Lee Pace, and others, making it a highly anticipated film for action fans.
