Brock Purdy Set to Return for 49ers

On “49ers Game Plan,” head coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed that quarterback Brock Purdy will be back in the starting lineup when San Francisco faces the Cardinals on Sunday, according to NBC Sports Bay Area.

This marks Purdy’s first game since he worsened a turf toe injury during a loss to the Jaguars on September 28.

As Purdy makes his return, Shanahan quickly dismissed any notion of a quarterback controversy.

Though Mac Jones took over in Purdy’s absence, Shanahan made it clear that Purdy remains the primary choice when he’s healthy.

“It’s not a difficult decision,” Shanahan noted. “It’s more about Brock’s health. Mack has played well, but we trust Brock and know he can perform at a high level if he’s fit.”

This season, Purdy has thrown for 586 yards with four touchdowns and four interceptions over two games.

Meanwhile, Jones has started eight games, leading the 49ers to a 5-3 record despite dealing with his own injury challenges. In last week’s 42-26 defeat to the Rams, he passed for 319 yards and three touchdowns.

The 49ers are currently engaged in a competitive race for the top spot in the NFC West, alongside the Seahawks and Rams, who both hold 7-2 records.
