Jack Schlossberg’s Controversial Video and Political Aspirations
Jack Schlossberg, grandson of former President John F. Kennedy, performed a Nazi salute in a now-removed Instagram video from January, according to a report by the Washington Free Beacon. This revelation comes shortly after he announced his run for New York’s 12th Congressional District, a seat currently held by retiring Congressman Jerry Nadler.
It appears that the January video was meant to mock Elon Musk, who faced accusations of performing a Nazi salute during Trump’s inauguration parade at Capitol One Arena in D.C. Schlossberg’s video included a repeated gesture, where he said, “Hey, look at this,” to emphasize his point.
Musk, in response to earlier controversies, expressed his heartbreak regarding accusations against him, while still maintaining his support for the Jewish community. Interestingly, Schlossberg’s father is Jewish, a connection that adds layers to this conversation. The Beacon also reported that Schlossberg made a now-deleted post in January about creating something called “MAHA”—which stood for “Make America Healthy Again”—using exaggerated and offensive ingredients, seemingly targeting his relative, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who serves as Secretary of Health and Human Services.
His post claimed to include “2 ounces of Jewish blood (Ashkenazi, not Sephardic).” This becomes more curious when considering Kennedy Jr.’s statements about the potential future of COVID-19 concerning Ashkenazi Jews. Schlossberg has gained attention for his satirical approach to political content, often blending humor and controversy in his social media presence.
His campaign has not yet provided a comment regarding the backlash from the video, leaving many, I think, wondering how it will affect his political ambitions moving forward.
