Antifa Members Charged in July 4 Attack in Texas
Several Antifa members are facing charges linked to the attack on an immigration detention center in Alvarado, Texas, that took place on July 4. A federal grand jury has indicted nine individuals, while seven others also face charges that include rioting, providing support to terrorists, and attempted murder of law enforcement personnel.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Texas, the 12-count indictment names individuals such as Cameron Arnold, Zachary Ebbets, and Benjamin Song, along with several others. Their arraignment is set for December 3, 2025, in front of a federal judge. In a separate filing, six individuals—Nathan Bauman, Joy Gibson, Susan Kent, Rebecca Morgan, Lynette Sharp, and John Thomas—have been charged with providing material support to a terrorist organization. Additionally, a 16th defendant, Seth Sykes, was indicted last October on a similar charge. Plea hearings for some defendants are scheduled for next week.
The attack occurred late on July 4, when a group of 11 individuals breached the detention center where federal authorities were holding illegal immigrants awaiting deportation.
Reports indicate that Antifa members discharged firearms, launched fireworks at buildings, and vandalized vehicles and security structures. Evidence shows fireworks were set off, along with graffiti declaring “Fuck you, pig” on a security hut.
Officer Alvarado responded to the scene following a 911 call and was shot in the neck. The prosecutor’s office noted that most of the Antifa suspects were apprehended shortly after the incident, but one, Benjamin Song, evaded capture until his arrest on July 15, 2025. Court records suggest this group secured over 50 firearms prior to the attack.
Following the violence, Assistant U.S. Attorney Nancy Larson remarked on the alarming trend of assaults against law enforcement. Journalist Andy Ngo also reported that the FBI recovered around 14 rifles and pistols post-raid.
“This marks the nation’s first indictment against a violent Antifa cell,” Larson stated, expressing appreciation for the perseverance of law enforcement and legal teams in pursuing justice. She emphasized a continued commitment to safeguard law enforcement and federal facilities from organized domestic terrorism.
