MTG Confronts Trump About Epstein Files, Accusing Him of Betrayal and Recognizing a 'Terrorist'

Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Republican from Georgia, expressed her hurt on CNN’s “State of the Union” when discussing President Trump’s recent comments. During an interview with Dana Bash, she reflected on how Trump’s label of “traitor” affected her, particularly in the context of the Jeffrey Epstein scandal and Trump’s meeting with the Syrian president.

Greene did not hold back her criticism of Trump, describing his response to the Epstein files as “shocking.” This was her first interview since Trump announced he would not endorse her in the upcoming Republican primary in Georgia. Despite this, she clarified her ongoing support for Trump and mentioned that she is among a group of House Republicans urging for the release of Epstein-related documents. Recently, she has also voiced her discontent with how the issue has been managed by the authorities.

“The most hurtful thing Trump said was calling me a traitor,” Greene told Bash. “That’s absolutely not true and quite wrong. Such words could incite people against me and endanger my life.” She reminded viewers that she supported Trump when few others did, and spent significant resources to help him win the presidency.

Despite feeling hurt, Greene emphasized the need to end toxic political conflicts that she believes are tearing the country apart, adding that they don’t really solve any issues. When asked about Trump’s perception of her as an enemy, she attributed it to the Epstein files.

Greene reiterated her solidarity with victims of sexual abuse and human trafficking, insisting that transparency regarding these cases is crucial and that powerful individuals should not be shielded from accountability.

She also took issue with Trump’s meeting with Syrian President Ahmed al-Shalah, referencing the impact on veterans who fought against al-Qaeda. “I completely disagree,” she remarked. “That meeting was disrespectful to those who served and suffered in the Middle East.”

On social media, Trump gave Greene a new nickname, referring to her as “Lightweight Rep. Marjorie Taylor Brown,” and criticized her for her performance and policies. He implied that she betrayed the Republican Party by shifting toward the left and mentioned that her actions have led some to consider ousting her from the party.

Shortly after, Greene stated on X that she was receiving warnings from a private security firm concerning her safety, which she claims is due to threats fueled by Trump’s rhetoric. “The aggressive attacks against me historically lead to death threats and further radicalization,” Greene wrote, pointing out that her experience is reminiscent of what victims of Epstein might feel.

Greene claimed that she hasn’t reached out to Trump recently and believes the records will support this. She emphasized her advocacy for the release of Epstein documents, insisting it’s vital for the public.

She mentioned her consistent support for Trump while acknowledging that disagreements are natural. Greene observed that the important takeaway is to push for the agenda that serves the American people, which aligns with her commitments made during her campaign.

Her history is not without controversy, having faced scrutiny over comments related to conspiracy theories and incendiary remarks in past years. Greene has also been criticized for comparing public health mandates to the Holocaust, a statement she later retracted by visiting the Holocaust Museum to express her understanding. This background continues to define her political narrative.
