Marjorie Taylor Greene Praised by “The View” Co-Hosts
On Monday, the co-hosts of ABC’s “The View” expressed their support for Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene from Georgia after her recent split from former President Donald Trump. Greene has publicly apologized for what she termed “toxic politics.”
During the episode, the hosts empathized with Greene, who shared her experiences of being harassed and threatened following the Trump administration’s actions against her online. The co-hosts welcomed her into the anti-Trump resistance movement, with Joy Behar saying, “Welcome to the fight, Marjorie.”
Greene’s Concerns About Danger
In a CNN interview with Dana Bash, Greene mentioned that she has been receiving intimidating messages after criticizing Trump. The former president called her an “abusing lunatic” in a post on Truth Social, further indicating his support for a primary challenge against her in 2026.
This backlash came after Greene—known for her strong allegiance to Trump—voiced her frustration over Republican leaders not resolving a government shutdown sooner and urged for the release of the Jeffrey Epstein files. She acknowledged her past indulgence in toxic politics, stating her commitment to change.
Mixed Reactions to Greene’s Apology
The co-hosts seemed open to Greene’s shifting perspective. Sunny Hostin recognized Greene’s acknowledgment of her previous behavior, commenting, “Maybe there’s something behind this. Perhaps she has political ambitions, but I commend her for admitting, ‘I’m complicit in some of that toxic behavior and I apologize.'” Still, there’s a bit of skepticism in the air.
Behar was a bit more enthusiastic, referencing the film “Casablanca” to illustrate her welcoming attitude. “Now we know our side will win,” she remarked, implying Greene’s newfound alignment against Trump.
Greene’s Call for Civility
Co-host Sarah Haines also commended Greene’s call to restore civility in politics, emphasizing that people should be able to share a drink with those they disagree with. Ana Navarro suggested that even though Greene has a history of partisanship and conspiracy theories, it’s worth giving her the benefit of the doubt regarding this new phase.
While Greene’s staff did not respond to requests for comment, the discussion surrounding her statements continues to grow, illustrating a shifting dynamic in Republican politics.
