Browns' Shedeur Sanders is said to be starting against the Raiders

Shedule Sanders is anticipated to take the field as the starting quarterback for the Cleveland Browns in their upcoming game against the Las Vegas Raiders. This follows Dillon Gabriel’s departure from the last game due to a concussion, which left the Browns with a tough 23-16 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. Unless something unexpected occurs, Sanders is set to fill in for Gabriel.

This marks Sanders’ entry as the Browns’ 42nd starting quarterback since 1999. In his NFL debut, he faced challenges, completing just 4 of 16 passes, resulting in 47 yards along with an interception and two sacks. Reflecting on the performance, he was critical of himself, stating, “I don’t think we played well. I don’t think I played well at all. There’s a lot at play, and I need to see how things go this week.” He expressed the need to relax and practice throwing routes with his teammates.

Even though the Browns’ defense performed well, highlighted by Myles Garrett’s four sacks and two interceptions of Lamar Jackson, they fell to a disappointing 2-8 record. I guess it’s tough when even solid defense can’t carry a team through.

Looking ahead, the Browns’ offense has been struggling, averaging only 16.2 points per game—ranking them 29th in the NFL, and 257.3 yards per game—putting them 31st. They are hoping that Sanders can rekindle some energy as they prepare to face off against the Raiders, who also share a 2-8 record. The game is scheduled for Sunday at 4:05 p.m. ET.
