Abbott Labels Muslim Brotherhood and CAIR as Terrorist and Criminal Groups — Prohibits Land Ownership in Texas

On Tuesday, Texas Governor Greg Abbott classified the Muslim Brotherhood and the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) as foreign terrorist organizations as well as transnational criminal organizations. This classification empowers state authorities to intensify enforcement actions against these groups and their affiliates.

This morning, in a press release, Abbott expressed his views on the matter: “The Muslim Brotherhood and CAIR have long made clear their goal of forcibly imposing Sharia law and establishing Islamic ‘dominion of the world.’ Their actions to support terrorism globally and undermine our laws through violence, intimidation, and harassment are simply unacceptable.”

The declaration signed by Abbott outlines the history of the Muslim Brotherhood, noting that its founder, Hassan al-Banna, once stated, “Jihad is an obligation from Allah to all Muslims that cannot be ignored or avoided.” He framed Jihad as “The battle of the disbelievers,” emphasizing the need to dismantle the power of Islam’s enemies through any means necessary, including violence and destruction.

The statement described CAIR as an Islamist organization formed as a “front group” for Hamas and its U.S. support networks, according to the FBI.

In May, the Justice Department began a civil rights investigation into a developer for a proposed Muslim community north of Dallas, as reported by Breitbart Texas. This investigation was initiated following a letter from Senator John Cornyn (R-Texas) to Attorney General Pam Bondi and Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights Harmeet Dhillon, requesting the inquiry into the East Plano Islamic Center’s (EPIC) planned community.

The development, known as EPIC Ranches City in Josephine, Texas, is currently under investigation by the Texas Rangers at the request of Governor Abbott, who expressed concerns about potential religious discrimination against Christians, Jews, and other non-Muslim groups in relation to the community plans.
