Trump Calls for Investigation into ABC News
President Donald Trump has urged the Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, Brendan Carr, to look into ABC News and consider taking away its broadcasting license due to what he describes as “false” reporting.
During a meeting with the Saudi crown prince, an ABC reporter pressed Trump about the postponement of files relating to Jeffrey Epstein, questioning, “Why wait until Congress releases the Epstein files? Why not release them now?”
Trump responded, first by saying, “It’s not the question that bothers me. It’s your attitude.” He then criticized the reporter’s approach, noting, “You start by asking a respected man a horribly disobedient, awful question.”
He referred to the reporter as “a terrible person and a terrible reporter,” emphasizing his disconnect with the questioning style.
The president maintained that he had “nothing to do with Jeffrey Epstein,” stating, “I kicked him out of my club years ago because I thought he was a gross pervert.”
Trump also criticized mainstream media for not covering the affiliations between liberal politicians and sex offenders, asserting, “All of these people were his friends. You don’t even talk about those people.” He mentioned that Epstein had contributed to the Democratic Party but claimed he received nothing from him.
Expressing disdain, Trump labeled ABC a “shitty company.” He elaborated on his perception of media bias, saying, “I think when you come in and 97% are negative about Trump, and then Trump wins the election in a landslide, that obviously means your news is not trustworthy and you are not trustworthy as a reporter.”
Trump told an ABC News reporter that no further questions would be accepted during that meeting. Initially, both ABC and the FCC did not respond to requests for comments.
