Elon Musk and Donald Trump’s Relationship Takes a Positive Turn
During a recent event in the White House, Tesla CEO Elon Musk expressed gratitude to President Donald Trump in what marked his first public appearance there since their earlier disagreements this year.
On Tuesday evening, the White House held an upscale dinner for Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, where Musk was spotted engaging with other influential figures from sectors like technology, finance, and energy. It seems he was quite at ease in the East Room, sharing a meal with them.
Tesla made its entrance into the Saudi market back in April with an event at Bujairi Terrace. Musk had previously met with bin Salman at the US-Saudi Investment Forum in Riyadh earlier in May.
This catch-up hinted at a notable shift in the dynamics between Trump and Musk, especially since their public fallout over Musk’s negative view of Trump’s “big, beautiful bill.” Musk had previously served as a special government official in the Trump administration, overseeing the Department of Government Efficiency. He criticized the president’s proposal for its potential to balloon the national debt, which he felt contradicted the efforts of DOGE to manage government spending.
After their disagreements, Musk even considered starting his own political party, dubbed the “American Party.” Yet, that idea never materialized.
In recent months, both Musk and Trump appear to have dialed down their criticisms of each other. Notably, they interacted at Charlie Kirk’s memorial service in September. Trump mentioned in October that he’d been in touch with Musk intermittently, calling their relationship “good.”
“I like Elon. I’ve always liked him,” Trump remarked to reporters back then.
On Wednesday, Musk shared a picture of himself alongside Trump from the event the previous evening, signaling to his followers that he might be open to mending fences with the president.
“I want to thank President Trump for everything he has done for America and the world,” Musk expressed on social media.
The evolving relationship between these two prominent figures has garnered attention, indicating perhaps that past tensions are beginning to ease.
