State Department to Include Minor Gender Changes in Human Rights Reports

New Reporting Item on Human Rights Practices

The U.S. State Department, under President Trump, will introduce a new item in its annual human rights reports concerning “chemical and surgical mutilation of children” in efforts to change their gender, according to a department official.

This new bill will also address laws regarding hate speech that infringe on free speech rights and policies on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) that may deny equal opportunities to workers based on their race.

Tommy Piggott, the principal deputy spokesperson for the State Department, expressed that recent harmful ideologies have allowed for various human rights abuses to take root. He stated, “The Trump administration will not allow human rights violations like child mutilation, discriminatory free speech laws, and racist hiring practices to continue unchecked. We’ve reached a breaking point.”

According to the agency, the State Department is obligated by Congress—through the Trade Act of 1974 and the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961—to produce annual reports on human rights practices. These reports cover various internationally recognized human rights, including prohibitions against torture, inhumane treatment, and arbitrary detention.

Additionally, the reports focus on labor rights, including freedom of association, freedom of expression, and rights related to religion or belief. They also cover issues like collective bargaining, the prohibition of forced labor, child labor practices, the minimum age for child workers, and acceptable working conditions.

Officials at the State Department recognized other human rights violations happening globally, including:

  • The facilitation of mass or illegal immigration into another country
  • Government subsidies for abortion and estimates on annual abortions
  • Efforts to force individuals into euthanasia
  • Violations of religious freedom, including anti-Semitic harassment

Moreover, the State Department plans to address medical violations, such as forced testing, organ harvesting, and eugenic modifications to human embryos.
