BALTIMORE — It’s time for a change.
The Jets have switched quarterbacks this week, replacing Justin Fields, who has had a tough season, with the seasoned Tyrod Taylor for their upcoming game against the 5-5 Ravens.
Taylor, now 36, filled in when Fields was injured earlier this season but has primarily been on the bench since then.
It’s a notable return for him, as he’s back in Baltimore—where he was drafted in 2011.
“I’m really looking forward to this chance to play,” Taylor mentioned. “It’s definitely a mixed bag, though. You develop friendships in this sport, and it can weigh on you emotionally. But I believe God has a plan for all of us. I feel this is my moment, and I’m eager for the opportunity.”
As the 2-8 Jets face a challenging task, they aim to regain their footing under first-year coach Aaron Glenn.
The Ravens are currently on a four-game winning streak, with quarterback Lamar Jackson back in action after recovering from a hamstring injury.
Glenn expressed disappointment over his team’s previous performance against the Patriots, noting this week’s game as a chance to demonstrate improvement.
Facing the Ravens will be another test for the Jets, who are looking to turn things around.
“We went up against a strong team last week,” Glenn reflected. “Four or five plays could have changed the outcome in that game. Now, we face a different challenge—a team that consistently makes the playoffs and seems to be improving.”
“This game presents another opportunity to see where we stand as a team and how we can continue to develop.”
Although the Jets’ season hasn’t unfolded as planned, Glenn is focused on visible growth.
With Taylor at the helm, the Jets hope to enhance their passing game.
Glenn pointed out improvements in their rushing offense and a reduction in penalties as positive signs.
“That’s our goal,” he added. “Winning in this league hinges on continuous improvement. I recognize our record isn’t pretty, but we can’t just sit back and accept the status quo. We’re committed to pushing ourselves into a winning position.”
