Mark Wahlberg’s Children Tease Him About His Movie Roles

Mark Wahlberg’s kids are now at the age where they like to poke fun at their father’s film roles. In a recent conversation, he mentioned that he anticipates a lot of teasing from his four children, especially regarding his role as a dad attempting to plan a family vacation in “Family Plan.”

“It’s really fun to watch movies with them. This weekend, we’re planning to watch ‘Family Plan’ as a family, and they’ll definitely make fun of me and imitate my scenes,” he shared.

Wahlberg seems to find joy in their impersonations. “What really cracks me up is when they get up and perform, mimicking me and chatting amongst themselves. It just makes me laugh endlessly,” he added.

Wahlberg, the youngest of nine siblings, has four children with his wife, Rhea Durham: Ella, Michael, Brendan, and Grace, who are now young adults. His kids often enjoy pulling out their Boston accents and joking about which characters might talk poorly about him. Interestingly, one character they believe overshadows their dad is Jason Bourne, famously played by Matt Damon.

“They get into their Boston accents, throwing around terms like ‘Angry Dad’ and pretending to be tough. They’re always saying things like, ‘Dad, you’ll never take down Jason Bourne.’ It doesn’t stop—it’s a lot of fun,” he reflected.

Wahlberg finds that one of the bigger challenges of raising teens is finding a balance between giving them enough freedom while preventing them from making choices they might regret later on. “We try really hard not to grant them too much leeway, but also not constrain them so they can’t learn,” he noted, reflecting on his own experiences.

He continued, “As parents, we want our kids to fulfill their potential and be good examples for them. I’m trying to lead by example—pursuing a meaningful life and making amends for past mistakes. Sure, if I could do things differently, I would, but right now, I just want to inspire them.”

“Family Plan 2,” which premiered on November 21, is a sequel to the original film released in 2023. Wahlberg informs that the cast includes familiar faces like Michelle Monaghan and Zoe Colletti, along with new addition Kit Harington.

Wahlberg elaborated on how he balances fatherly themes in a film packed with action. “We always hone in on the father aspect, and I think that’s what makes it relatable. Of course, we have more action, more impressive visuals, but fundamentally, it’s about family dynamics and humor,” he explained.

“In the first film, we captured a specific tone, and in this sequel, we’ve enhanced that for everyone. It’s relatable for both adults and children, who feel engaged with the characters without being overwhelmed,” he concluded.

Overall, “Family Plan 2” strives to connect with audiences while keeping things fun and relatable.
