Tragic Accident Claims Five Lives in Colorado

A devastating crash on Highway 83 in Douglas County, Colorado, resulted in the deaths of five individuals, including three children. This incident occurred on Monday afternoon when the driver of a stolen vehicle collided with oncoming traffic.

The accident, which involved a Toyota hatchback and a Ford sedan, took place near milepost 40.5 just before 4:40 p.m., according to the Colorado State Patrol (CSP). As the Toyota was heading south, a 31-year-old man from Denver lost control, veering off the road.

Authorities are still uncertain as to why the driver lost command of the vehicle.

The Toyota then overcorrected, rolling into the northbound lane. This resulted in a head-on collision with the Ford, which was carrying a 35-year-old man from Colorado Springs along with five children.

The children, aged between 8 and 14, included two 12-year-old boys, a 13-year-old girl, an 8-year-old boy, and a 14-year-old boy, as reported by officials.

Sadly, the 35-year-old man and three of the children were pronounced dead at the scene. Meanwhile, a 13-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy seated in the back were airlifted to a hospital due to life-threatening injuries.

The Toyota had reportedly been stolen just one hour prior to the incident, following a report made to the Aurora police. The case is presently under investigation by the CSP Vehicle Crimes Unit.
