Shedule Sanders Celebrates First NFL Win, Faces Backlash
Shedule Sanders was thrilled after clinching his first career victory against the Cleveland Browns last Sunday. Yet, his remarks during the postgame press conference drew some criticism online.
During the interview, he exuded confidence, reflecting on his performance. “That’s a lot for a week of practice. Imagine what a full offseason would look like. It’s risky, but I’m just grateful everything worked out,” he said with a smile.
However, some social media users found his enthusiasm to be a bit arrogant. One commented, “This is why many people aren’t keen on supporting Shedule. He talks like his father but doesn’t have the skills to back it up. A little humility wouldn’t hurt.”
His father, NFL Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, was present and appeared to overhear the criticism at Allegiant Stadium. Following the game, Deion shared a video highlighting his son’s sentiments. Shedule emphasized his faith during the interview, stating, “Only God got me through it. Two days ago, we had a big talk about God and our purpose. I’m grateful. It’s all God’s work that allows me to keep pushing.”
Deion Sanders reacted simply with, “Thank you, Jesus,” after his son’s statistics of 11 completions out of 20 attempts, totaling 209 yards with one touchdown and an interception.
Shedule mentioned feeling no nerves leading up to the game, attributing his performance to hard work throughout the week. “I remember saying earlier that I wasn’t nervous. I put in the work, so I was excited. I’m thankful for the way the offensive line embraced me. It was just business, and I’m glad we won,” he said.
He added, “Having my dad, my mom, and friends in the stands, it just felt amazing.” The father-son duo shared a heartfelt moment before the game, with Deion beaming at his son.
While this strong start is promising for Shedule, it’s worth noting that he’s not unfamiliar with scrutiny. Should he continue starting for the Browns, every performance and statement will likely be under close watch, just as it was during his time in Colorado.
